Christmas, New Years tablescape

Updated: Jan 5, 2019

In the preparations for any big day there is a lot to organise. One of the things I look forward to is decorating the table, after all the table and the food is the central to all the festivities on Christmas day.

So I thought I would share this years design and where everything is from, this table would also be prefect for new years eve celebrations as well, and the good news is some of the items are now in the sale.

I opted for a simple white and grey table runner which I already had but a simple silver one from The Range would look equally as good. And fabric napkins similar to these from M&S link. I used a Christmas decorations as a napkin ring as I forgot to buy any and think they worked really well, but these silver multi ring ones from Dunelm link are beautiful. My placemats were from M&S and although are quite expensive they are so beautiful with the white shimmery beading and are a large enough size to showcase the dinner plates perfectly link

Fresh foliage looks lovely on a dinning room table but faux foliage can look equally as lovely and keeps year after year. I used a mixture of faux eucalypus, mistletoe and cineraria and arranged it like a garland along the middle of the table. If you have a garland that would work beautifully.

This year I wanted to treat myself to some special dinner ware, which I will use for special occasions only. My current table ware was all chipped and mismatched and getting old. After traipsing around several shops I fell in love with the Grace Silver 5th Avenue range at Dunelm. Dunelm have a brilliant range of dinning table sets to suit all budgets, this range was slightly pricier than I had hoped, but I am classing it as an investment! The good news is it has 20% off at the moment, I like the fact that as well as being able to buy it as a dining set link you can also buy individual plates link and soup bowls link which I personally prefer to the smaller bowls included in the set, I will be adding a few more items to my collection while its in the sale.

My glasses were an absolute bargain from wilko at just £3 and I think they complement the dining set really well. link.

My place names were individual silver wire names made by myself, you can buy them at my Etsy store here link and add a lovely personal touch to the tablescape.

You also need a suitable centrepiece for your table, candles always look beautiful, be careful if you are nestling them within foliage tho as it is a fire risk, consider using LED candles instead, they look just as good, without the risk. These are a bargain from The Range Link and come with a handy remote.

My centrepiece was a Christmas dome decoration from Asda which I got last year, and to elevate it I used a cake stand, having a couple of different levels helps to set more of a scene and focal point.

So that was this years look, I hope you like it and it gives you a few ideas on what you could do in your home.

Thanks for reading
